City of Bliss

Mixing textures and prints in an outfit can be difficult, but staying within a compatible color scheme makes it easier. Black is probably the easiest color to start with when mixing textures and/or patterns. I, personally, love wearing a majority of black (SHOCKER), but I like mixing different black colored textures and patterns to keep my outfit from appearing monotonous.

Visiting New York City always puts me in a state of sweet serenity and pure bliss. Looking out the car window, I see my future. The city constantly inspires me to not only dress fearlessly, but to live fearlessly by taking risks, ignoring others' judgements, doing what I truly want to do, working very hard, and never, ever giving up. I share this with you because I believe these are the keys to success and happiness. Stay true to yourself and you will always be happy.

Thanks for checking out my fashion blog!

With love,
Melissa

Don't Be Such A Tulle

Why are tutus or tulle skirts so underrated?

Pairing the skirt with more subtle pieces make its more wearable and allows it to be the focal point of your outfit. I would either tuck in my shirt under the skirt or wear a cropped shirt so I don't lose my shape under all the fabric. Another essential part of wearing a tulle skirt is actually picking one out. I would veer more towards practical colors or colors that you normally wear (i.e. black, grey, etc.). I also would try to pick a skirt that lies a little bit above your hips, but is long enough to cover your bottom.

Whether it's a tutu or an eccentric pair of pants, wear your clothes with pride and don't be afraid of others' judgements. Fashion is subjective. Not everyone will like what you're wearing, but if it gives you the utmost confidence, then wear it.

Thanks for visiting my fashion blog!

xx,
Melissa

New Year, New Blog

Welcome to my fashion blog! I’m Melissa. I am a Fashion Merchandising major, Business minor, and Division I tennis player at Marist College. I wear a lot of black. I talk too loud. I make weird and obnoxious faces. I’m a perfectionist and I’m incredibly indecisive.

This is my first blog post EVER! Happy 2014! With the new year, I have decided to finally create my own fashion blog after much procrastination and contemplation. I created this blog to showcase my personal style and things that inspire me. I hope you enjoy my posts & thank you for checking me out!
